Corsley WI celebrated their Centenary in September 2020. It all started on 20th September 1920 when a meeting was convened by the Hon. Mrs Bowlby at the Reading Room in
Corsley to form a branch of the Woman's Institute.
Many celebrations were planned to celebrate the centenary but due to the current crisis this has not been possible.
The current membership is 30 members plus new members joining from time to time, they even have ladies who have been members for up to 60 years!
Corsley WI has been involved in local community initiatives involving fund raising for hospitals, safety and emergency services, and providing delicious refreshments at the Corsley Show.
Members always look forward to their monthly meetings which include interesting speakers and trips/outings to various interesting places. They also have a thriving Skittles & Scrabble group too.
Since lockdown members have been supported by phone calls and newsletters. They are planning on completing their 100 years anniversary recipe book which includes a full history of the WI. Members have also been given a new modern design bag. Both these items they intend to sell to raise funds. Corsley WI always welcomes new members.
The Federation wishes to congratulate all the members of the Corsley WI a heartfelt congratulations on reaching the centenary milestone and hopes that they will be able to enjoy time with their entire WI soon.
