Climate Conference in October

Register your interest now and learn how you can tackle the climate emergency. The day-long conference for WI members will explore different aspects of climate change and how we can campaign for urgent action.

The issue could not be more pressing, with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reporting in March that urgent action is needed to ‘ensure a safe and liveable future for all’. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said “Our world needs climate action on all fronts: everything, everywhere, all at once.”

Our conference will allow members to explore how we can effectively push for action – as well as what action is needed in our energy supply, to protect resources like water and safeguard our food supply. It will also consider the impact of climate change on women, and how we can make sure women are at the table of climate negotiations, as well as ensuring a ‘just transition’ that protects and benefits all.

The day will feature presentations and panel discussions from experts and will include opportunities for WI member feedback and discussion. This feedback will be collated by the NFWI Public Affairs team and be converted into a series of recommendations from WI members on their views on how to tackle the climate crisis.

The conference will take place on 17 October, in the Abbey Centre, Westminster, and will run from 9am until 5pm. If you would be interested in taking part in this event, do register your interest with the NFWI Public Affairs team at pa@nfwi.org.uk.
